Came to Poughkeepsie on a foodie adventure date to check out Sundaze, located inside the Academy but once we noticed this place across the street we got our burgers from Sundaze to go and went and ate at Handsome Devil instead. We had Brisket, jalapeño sausage, Mac and cheese, and cornbread. The chef even gave us a complimentary banana pudding and was very friendly and made sure to check on us. I wasn’t a fan of the corn bread but my date enjoyed it but that was only because of my pickiness with textures. The Mac and cheese could use a bit of improvement but I turned it into brisket Mac by mixing them together and it was great. The brisket and sausage were cooked perfectly and just what I expected. We will definitely be back to try more.

I've been coming here (pok) almost every Saturday for well over a year, and at this point it's become part of my routine. About 90% of the time I order the exact same thing: half-pound of brisket and a small fried cauliflower with the Thai chili sauce on the side. It is hands down my favorite lunch. The brisket is consistently excellent. That's actually what impresses me the most. Week after week, the quality is the same. The cook has this meal dialed in, and I know exactly what I'm getting every time. Since I'm on a pretty regimented diet, this is one of the meals I genuinely look forward to all week. The chef and her entire staff are always pleasant, charming, and genuinely friendly. They make you feel like a regular, and that kind of service goes a long way. I have two complaints: The first was minor. The fryer was down one Saturday, so I couldn't get my cauliflower. Things break, and they had it fixed within a few weeks, so no big deal. The second issue is the dining room. The heat inside the restaurant has become almost unbearable. It wasn't like this last year. I was told the temperature can't be adjusted because of a decision by the general manager, but whatever the reas

Handsome Devil BBQ is by far my favorite BBQ spot. I love the brisket, jalapeño cheddar link, pulled pork, potato salad, and collards. It's all slammin'. The portions are generous, and the staff is the sweetest. The only thing I'd love to see added is sweet tea. Other than that, it can't be beat.

I had a great takeout experience with my order of brisket (unfortunately I started eating before remembering to take a photo), collared greens, chili, and ribs! The orders were carefully wrapped in foil and by friendly staff for my long drive back to NYC. The brisket was tender and great with their sauce. The ribs were meaty and flavorful. I would definitely consider stopping by again.

Best BBQ I've ever had. Would give it 120 out of 100 for the great taste and amazing staff. Generous portions, perfectly smoked flavor and texture. Drove from NYC just to visit the place twice and each time was excellent! Loved the brisket, ribs, sausages, collard greens, mac-cheese, and corn bread. Hoping to try all the items on the menu!
